Early Life

She was born on the 18th of October 1984 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Linda Anne and Alan Lee Kildow. She began skiing at the age of two and was being taught by her father who was from Milton, Wisconsin, and later joined Erich Sailer’s renowned development skiing program at Burnsville’s Buck Hill. When Vonn was nine, she got to meet her idol, Olympic gold medalist skier Picabo Street. The encounter had such an impact on Street that she continued to serve as Vonn’s coach for skiing after she watched the young Vonn ski first time in 1999. The family relocated from the city of Vail, Colorado in the early ’90s to allow Vonn to pursue her training full-time. Vonn went to high school online at the University of Missouri High School.

 

Early Career

Vonn’s ski career took off with her first major milestone. The age group of 15 when she was the very first American female. The first prize in the Italian Trofeo Topolino. Vonn climbed the ranks within the U.S. Ski Team and made her World Cup debut at age 16. After that, it was just a matter of time until Olympic success was within her reach. Vonn was able to make her Olympic debut at the age of 17 when she took part in the slalom as well as combined events at Salt Lake City. Then, in March of 2003, Vonn was awarded a silver medal at the Junior World Championship at Puy-Saint-Vincent, France.

In her 2nd Winter Olympics, held in Italy in 2006 she posted the second-fastest time during the first practice run. however, she crashed during the second practice run. Despite severe pain and bruises, Vonn returned to the piste two days later. She participated and finished eighth, and was awarded the U.S. Olympic Spirit Award for her courageous performance in spite of discomfort. In the 2007 World Cup, she finished third in both super-G and downhill events. The following year, Vonn won the overall World Cup title, becoming only the second American woman to achieve this feat. Vonn created the new American record for the largest number of World Cup downhill victories with 10 in Switzerland on the 8th of March the year.

Lindsey is a native speaker of German well. She was married to a 2002 Olympian as well as former U.S. Thomas Vonn, a ski team athlete from the U.S. on September 29th, 2007. The couple divorced in 2013 and she chose to keep her marital name. Subban in the year 2019. The couple proposed. The couple broke up in December of 2020.

In 2014, Lindsey paid $3.85 million for a property in Vail. She lowered the cost to $5 million by 2020. The final price was $4.8 million in July of 2020.

In 2016 Lindsey bought $3.55 million to purchase a house located in West Hollywood, California.
